Asus ZenScreen Duo: when one screen is not enough (or even two...)

It is not a portable monitor, it is a dual portable monitor. Here's how it works

It's not a portable monitor, it's a dual portable monitor. It was made by Asus and is called ''ZenScreen Duo OLED MQ149CD''. What does it do? For those who work with a laptop (almost all knowledge workers and those who, let's say, work in the advanced tertiary sector) and feel they deserve more space. In what way? Technically, it is a dual OLED panel, each with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and a 16:10 format. The two screens are connected by a 360° hinge and fitted with a folding stand that allows multiple workstation configurations. Alone they are 14 inches, together they become 20 inches. The integrated stand allows versatile uses, both horizontally and vertically.

The most immediate use is to place it to the left of your laptop. At this point you can decide to work with three screens projecting three different sources. Like: on one you surf, on the other you write and on a third you put social. Or everything on three screens, in a single cascade. I have used this ''position'' for programming and it is particularly convenient, as every developer knows.

What puzzled me the most was the mirror mode, which basically doubles what you see on both screens. Theoretically you could also use it for gaming, but for this use a specialised monitor is better, definitely 4K and with a high refresh rate, expressed in Hertz (Hz). Connected to a console it can also be used for presentations, with two players playing in front of each other, each with their own screen.

What's good about it is that it is light: it weighs only 1.07 kg and can therefore be packed in a suitcase without sacrificing too much space. The price? It's not for everyone: 609 euros. But it is also something new.
