Marco Arcieri’s concert dedicated to Chopin at the Caritas Hostel in Rome
As part of the event that will transform the capital into a vast open-air stage, the engineer-pianist – the pre-eminent interpreter of the Polish composer – will be performing
The magic of Chopin comes to the heart of Caritas, a place dedicated every day to welcoming the most vulnerable members of society. On Saturday 3 October, at 8.30 pm, at Termini Station, in the premises of the diocesan Caritas, one of the more than one hundred pianos of the Piano City Festival will take centre stage; on 3 and 4 October, the festival will transform the capital into a city-wide stage. The “Don Luigi Di Liegro” Hostel at Termini Station will, in fact, host one of the event’s performances.
At the piano, the pianist Arcieri, the foremost interpreter of Chopin
The star of the evening will be the renowned Roman pianist Marco Arcieri, one of the foremost interpreters of Chopin. The engineer-pianist – who for years described himself as a pianist supported by an engineer – has performed the Polish composer’s entire piano oeuvre as the sole soloist at the Prussian Emperor’s Palace in Berlin and has taken Chopin’s repertoire to some of the world’s most important cities: from Hamburg to Madrid, from Milan to Rome, from Paris to Vienna and London. In London, on 10 October, he will give a concert at Smith Square Hall, the concert hall in the centre of Smith Square, in the Westminster district.
Chopin goes social
The pianist is also active on social media: he has tens of thousands of followers on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, where he shares videos dedicated to Fryderyk Chopin – so much so that he has been recognised as a champion of classical music. At his concerts, 30 per cent of tickets are sold to young people under the age of 18. For Marco Arcieri, Chopin is not simply a repertoire, but his artistic home. Every concert of his is both a tribute and a mission: to share Chopin not as a spectacle, but as an intimate truth. A deeply personal return to the composer’s authentic voice.
Over a hundred pianos in the capital
As part of the Piano City event, a hundred pianos will bring music to the whole city, taking place not only in venues traditionally used for concerts, but also in squares and courtyards. The presence of one of the festival’s pianos at the Caritas Hostel takes on a special significance: culture enters a place of hospitality and becomes an opportunity for people to meet and share experiences, bringing together different people, stories and worlds through the universal language of music.
