"This year we celebrated 25 years of Taomoda between returns and debuts. A quarter of a century of catwalks, fashion, design, photography, journalism, sustainability. During the magical night of the Tao Awards, we wanted to celebrate, once again, Made in Italy and creativity in all its forms. This edition closed with a particularly full calendar and made me very proud of the calibre of the guests as well as the quality of the speeches, but we are already thinking about the future. As we always say, after Taomoda, fashion goes on holiday, but we are already renewing the appointment for 2025'. With these words Agata Patrizia Saccone, President of Taomoda closed the 2024 edition.

The evening had opened, at the Teatro Antico in Taormina, on the notes of the Gattopardo waltz with choreography by the Danzando l'Ottocento company. A tribute to Luchino Visconti's masterpiece and to Titanus, Italy's oldest film production and distribution company, which chose to celebrate its 120th anniversary in Sicily. Tao Award to President Guido Lombardo, exponent of the third generation of a family that has made cinema history.

On stage, another anniversary, that of 10 years of HTSI Made in Italy. The Tao Award 2024 for Journalism and Culture was awarded to Nicoletta Polla Mattiot, director of HTSI, who commented: 'I would like to thank you for this award, which falls in a special year, one in which we celebrate 10 years of HTSI Made in Italy, born from the partnership between the Financial Times and IlSole24Ore, and of my directorship of the magazine. I have had the privilege of following this project from its inception, accompanying its creation, development and establishment on the Italian market. A wonderful professional adventure, shared with a wonderful team. What HTSI has become in these ten years must be said by the market, and above all it must be said by our readers, who have rewarded a product that is unique in Italy in terms of editorial formula, target audience, and cut of content. I like to say what I have learnt over the years and what the road travelled so far has taught us. True luxury is the time we devote to things, the generative power of waiting, of patient workmanship, which includes and enhances the imperfection of the handmade with respect to the perfection of seriality, it is the rigour of selection and attention to detail, it is the pride of Made in Italy, it is the transversality of beauty, the synergy of different worlds that range from fashion to design, from art to tech, and which are enriched precisely by entering into a relationship with each other'.

"This year," concluded Polla-Mattiot, "is also special because one of my favourite topics, silence, has become the track for the high school graduation exam and has allowed thousands of young people to deal with a new topic, to measure themselves against the idea, fertile and paradoxical, that keeping silent is a way of communicating. Together with Il Sole 24 Ore, we have republished the book from which the track was taken to offer readers of all ages a different and disorienting summer reading opportunity. I dedicate this prize to all the young people who wrote to me and wanted to tell me about their silences: I wish each one of them the ability to look through and beyond that silence offers.
