The University of Florence has been awarded almost €700,000 for international mobility outside the European Union

The appeal of the University of Florence is being further strengthened through an increasingly robust network of relationships with foreign institutions, designed to offer a borderless learning experience. It is within this context that the university has secured new funding of €686,213 for student mobility to third countries not participating in the Erasmus+ Programme, under the specific European action KA171. This result confirms the University’s excellence in project development within a highly competitive European context, marking its ninth consecutive success.

The funding, to be distributed over a 36-month period starting in August 2026, will enable students, lecturers and technical and administrative staff at Unifi and its partner universities to undertake study, teaching and training activities in accordance with specific departmental calls for applications. The initiative involves 17 countries and is organised by eight departments: Architecture (DIDA), Biology (BIO), Health Sciences (DSS), Earth Sciences (DST), Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Forestry Sciences and Technologies (DAGRI), Economics and Business Sciences (DISEI), Political and Social Sciences (DSPS) and Experimental and Clinical Medicine (DMSC).

“This result confirms the University’s firm belief in international mobility as a tangible asset for our entire community,” emphasises Rector Alessandra Petrucci. “Strengthening ties with universities around the world enables us to offer students, lecturers and staff genuine opportunities for exchange, whilst at the same time making our educational provision increasingly attractive and open to the wider world.”

There are, in fact, 22 international programmes – organised in collaboration with foreign universities to award joint, dual or multiple degrees – and over 20 degree programmes taught partly or exclusively in English.
The University also supports international students through an integrated welcome system, designed to help them settle into university and city life: the International Students Information Desk in Morgagni, offering dedicated assistance with administrative procedures; the International Mobility Office, for all mobility programmes, not just Erasmus; services dedicated to welcoming international guests, from finding accommodation to applying for a residence permit; free Italian language courses delivered by the University Language Centre (CLA); international tutoring schemes, with senior students guiding new arrivals in organising their studies.
