Jannik Sinner made his debut at the Atp Finals in Turin, where he is the reigning champion, with Félix Auger-Aliassime, beating him eight days after their last direct clash (the final won in the Thousand in Paris) 7-5, 6-1 in one hour and 40 minutes. But tonight's match really lasted one set, hard-fought and with a very high rhythm on the fast court of the Inalpi Arena. Then in the last game of the first partial the Canadian injured his left calf and from then on the match was one-sided. The physiotherapist's intervention on 3-0 for Sinner and again on 4-1 was not enough: Auger-Aliassime was struggling with his movements, far from the agility and sprints of the first hour in which he tenaciously resisted Jannik's assaults: he countered two break points on 3-2 and a set point on 5-4, before surrendering 7-5. The Italian, for his part, played a great first set on his serve (only three points conceded), with a few slips in reply, and then there was no match. His path in the Finals round continues on Wednesday against Alexander Zverev.
Nothing to do for Musetti, defeated by Taylor Fritz in the afternoon, last year's finalist. The American appeared to be an insurmountable wall and Lorenzo, fresh from his Athens fatigue (three-hour final against Djokovic, who then renounced the Finals and made his comeback), had no energy to try and reverse the trend of the match. Which ended 6-3, 6-4. On Tuesday night, the Carrara player will be back on court for the match against Alex De Minaur.
