Audi E7x, electric suv designed and intended for the Chinese market
The Audi E7x debuts at the Beijing Motor Show 2026 as Audi's first electric suv developed with Saic
Key points
The Audi E7x is the second model of the AUDI brand (written in all caps) resulting from the collaboration between Audi and Saic. The suv is developed and produced in China, at the Anting plant in Shanghai, with launch planned for the first half of 2026. The technical basis is the Advanced Digitised Platform, an electric platform designed with zonal electronic architecture. The system enables comprehensive over-the-air software updates and direct integration with China's digital ecosystem. The vehicle is set up as a connected system, with functions managed by software and upgradable over time.
Audi E7x dimensions
The E7x is in the large SUV segment. It measures 5,049 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width and 1,710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm. The wheelbase figure is central because it defines a large passenger compartment and a space distribution oriented towards the rear passengers. The proportions are typical of a full size SUV. Reduced overhangs, wide tracks and full volumes. The layout favours stability and presence on the road.
E7x Audi Powertrain. 900-volt architecture and performance
The Audi E7x is built on a 900-volt electric architecture. Two configurations are provided. The rear-wheel drive version develops 300 kW and 500 Nm of torque. The variant with quattro all-wheel drive reaches 500 kW and 800 Nm. In this configuration, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds. The batteries are available in two sizes of 100 kWh and 109 kWh gross. The range exceeds 750 km in the Cltc cycle with the larger battery. Recharging uses 4C technology. The system allows 10 to 80 per cent recharging in 13 minutes, exploiting the high-voltage architecture.
Audi E7x assistance systems. Lidar and assisted driving
The E7x integrates the Audi 360 Driving Assist system based on lidar technology. The system is developed for Chinese traffic and provides driving assistance in urban and motorway traffic, with longitudinal and lateral control of the vehicle. Activation is by destination selection and single command. There are advanced parking functions, including route memory, automatic parking in non-standard spaces and speed adjustment when manoeuvring.
Audi E7x interior
The cockpit is designed as a digital and modular environment. The main system is Audi's 27-inch panoramic display with 4K resolution, spanning the entire width of the dashboard. Functions are managed by the Audi OS operating system and the artificial intelligence-based voice assistant Audi Assistant 2.0. For rear passengers there is a 21.4-inch screen integrated in the roof, with control via voice, touch or remote control. The system supports multimedia content and multi-screen interaction with the front display. The Bose Performance Series audio system uses up to 26 speakers with three-dimensional architecture. The seats include zero-gravity configurations, with pneumatic adjustments and up to 16-point massage function in the four-seat configuration. The panoramic sunroof adopts multi-level variable matting technology, while materials such as natural woods and leather contribute to the perceived quality.
