The first 'yes' of the Chamber of Deputies to the differentiated autonomy bill has arrived. The Constitutional Affairs Committee of Montecitorio has concluded its examination, confirming the arrival in the Chamber next Monday, 29 April. A step that corroborates the pact between the League and Fdi that will unlock the Senate's approval of the premierate bill, dear to Giorgia Meloni's party.
The use of the 'guillotine'
.In committee, the 'guillotine' was applied as only 80 amendments out of the 2200 tabled were voted on. The text goes to the plenary next Monday, 29 April. "With today's vote for the mandate to the rapporteurs to report to the House, the work in committee on autonomy has officially ended. I sincerely thank President Pagano, all the officials of the I committee and all the staff in the Chamber, who were also operational on Saturday afternoon for the work on the reform," were the words of Minister Roberto Calderoli. "Special thanks also to the three rapporteurs Stefani, Urzì, Russo and all the majority deputies for their commitment. Another step forward and on the 29th, as set out in the calendar and as we had committed to do, the general debate will begin at 10 a.m.'.
Lega: last step, finally here we are
'The process in the Constitutional Affairs Committee on Autonomy, which will come to the Chamber of Deputies on 29 April, has been concluded. The last step after years of waiting. We are finally there. For the country, this is a great opportunity for growth. The absurd obstructionism of the left has been defeated, a promise kept'. Thus the deputies of the League in the Constitutional Affairs Committee Igor Iezzi, Simona Bordonali, Laura Ravetto, Alberto Stefani and Edoardo Ziello.
Pd: only 2% of tabled amendments voted
The air in the oppositions is quite different. "What happened in the Constitutional Affairs Committee on the autonomy bill is a serious precedent that will have repercussions for the entire legislature. President Pagano bent the rules to the wishes of the government and imposed a dictatorship of the majority to all intents and purposes. Choked times and derisory votes, voting on just over 2% of the amendments, despite the fact that parliament was examining a very complex measure that disrupts the institutional structure of the state and generates strong inequalities in the treatment of citizens. Other than a mandate to the rapporteur, with today's vote they have sent the unity of Italy to hell'. Thus the Democratic group leader in the Institutional Affairs Committee of the Chamber, Simona Bonafè.
M5S: majority slammed doors in the face of dialogue
"We asked to work tonight, to do it on Sunday. But nothing. The majority slammed the door in our faces, closed the door to dialogue and decided to go ahead with the mandate to the rapporteur. This is a bad page for our institutions, but unfortunately in line with what has happened in recent weeks and with an evidently fallacious idea of democracy'. This was said in the Constitutional Affairs Committee during the explanation of vote by M5S group leader Alfonso Colucci. 'The systematic compression of time and the impossibility of debating such an important measure on its merits leaves us dumbfounded. We are in front of a measure that is capable of changing the country in its foundations. Yet it could not be debated and everything had to be consumed in just two weeks. The truth is that the majority of the Meloni government does not want to discuss this measure because it does not have the arguments to do so. As far as we are concerned, we will present all our amendments in the House and will not participate in the vote on the mandate to the rapporteur,' Colucci concluded.
