Avau's niche perfumery enters Forbes Top 100
Launched in March 2025, the niche perfumery brand Avau is the brainchild of siblings Leonardo, Carolina and Caterina Catalani who, after an international education, chose to return to Italy to reinterpret the family tradition with a contemporary business model.
The brand was created with an investment of around EUR 1.5 million and a luxury business model based on selective distribution and strong structural solidity. To date, it is present in over 50 boutiques and artistic perfumery concept stores in the main European markets, thanks to a strategy that integrates creativity, design and olfactory research. The creative direction is entrusted to Leonardo, the strategic direction to Carolina, while the olfactory conception of the fragrances is led by Caterina.
Avau's creativity is not limited to the product: the brand constantly works with designers, artists and architects to translate its olfactory vision into cultural experiences and installations. Emblematic is the work "Olfactory Reflections", presented at the Milan Design Week 2025 within Alcova, which proposed a sensorial path dedicated to introspection and the emotional meaning of perfume.The selection among the Top 100 Italian Startups is therefore a strategic recognition: it confirms the operational reliability of the brand, the solidity of its model and its ability to represent a new Italian way to innovation in beauty.
The brand's future now looks towards international consolidation, the development of new fragrances and the construction of a cultural network dedicated to personal olfactory identity. A path that aims not only at business growth, but at defining a new paradigm: combining heritage, creativity, design and introspection to affirm an Italian entrepreneurial model capable of standing out in the world.
