The Baccalaureate 2025, which has just ended, recorded a stable pass rate of close to 100 per cent of those admitted and a thousand more praises than last year. This was announced by the Ministry of Education and Merit, which published the results of the State examination for the first and second cycles on its website.

A total of 96.5 per cent of the students were admitted to the baccalaureate examinations and of these 99.7 per cent graduated. These figures are in line with those of last year when the two categories amounted to 96.3 and 99.8 per cent respectively.
In terms of grade bands, there were 13,857 students who received honours, 2.8 per cent of the total, a slight increase from last year when they amounted to 2.6 per cent, 12,700 in total.

Priming the South

.

The best marks were achieved by students in the southern regions: the highest percentages of 100 cum laude were in Calabria, 6.1%, Apulia, 5.5%, and Sicily, 4.7%, which exceed the national average.

As far as graduates with 100 are concerned, Calabria is still in the lead with 12%. While, across the country as a whole, more than half the students scored between 61 and 80 and almost 3 in 10 between 71 and 80.

Middle School

.

In the eighth grade, there are even more 'bulgar' percentages of successful candidates: 99.9 per cent, exactly the same as in 2024.

The picture of the regional distribution is almost superimposable on the one taken at high school graduation, with the South pulling the wool over the eyes even at the end of secondary school. The ten with honours are 5.2% of the total (a year ago they were 5.1%) and the southern regions are always above average: Apulia with 8.7%, Calabria with 8.4%, Sicily with 8, Campania with 7.9%, Molise with 7.2, Abruzzo with 5.8% and Sardinia with 5.7%. The latter two are, however, preceded by Umbria with 6.7 per cent.
