"From the heart of the Urbe, a new night train is leaving, re-proposing, in a touristic key, the convenience of the great international trains that have now disappeared. The Espresso Riviera will leave every Friday from the beginning of July until the end of August, connecting Rome to the Côte d'Azur and then departing on Saturdays in the opposite direction. The aim is to intercept not only holidaymakers departing from the capital, who are increasingly looking for a varied offer of service levels on board trains, but also tourist flows towards the western part of Liguria, finally offering a service without changes from Genoa to Ventimiglia and France'.

This is how the CEO of Fs Treni Turistici Italiani (Fs group), Luigi Cantamessa, comments on the launch of the Espresso Riviera. "Comfort is also guaranteed in the daytime configuration of our Espressi trains thanks to the comfortable lounges and seats in first and second class and the restaurant service that is always active throughout the journey. A new way of travelling while the sea flows past your window and you relax," emphasises Cantamessa.

L'Espresso Riviera

Back on the rails is the Espresso Riviera, the Fs Treni Turistici Italiani night train that this summer will directly connect Rome, Genoa and the Ligurian west with the Côte d'Azur, as far as Marseille. The train will connect Rome to France, but also to Monte Carlo, becoming to all intents and purposes an international connection dedicated to tourism. The service will operate from Friday 4 July until Saturday 30 August 2025, departing every Friday from Roma Termini station and arriving in Marseille on Saturday. The return journey is scheduled to depart from Marseille on Saturday and arrive in Rome on Sunday morning.

Thanks to the Fs Treni Turistici Italiani train, travellers departing from Genoa, where there are connections with trains arriving from Milan, will also be able to reach France without making changes.

On board there will be restaurant service and spacious sleeping compartments to offer tourists a smooth and comfortable travel experience. During the night route it will be possible to travel in couchettes or sleeping cars, while from Genoa, the train will change configuration, assuming a daytime layout with lounges and first and second class seats, to allow passengers to enjoy the scenery along the Riviera. As on all Fs Treni Turistici Italiani express trains, it will be possible to sit in the restaurant car to enjoy dinner or breakfast thanks to a bar service that is always operational.

The Espresso Riviera is part of the project to enhance rail tourism, offering a sustainable and attractive alternative to reach some of the Mediterranean's most fascinating destinations.

Tickets will be available from 24 May on www.fstrenituristici.it and through all Trenitalia sales channels, including station ticket offices, self-service distributors and travel agencies.
