Bankers, Unisin opens congress season and chooses Luca Pinton as leader

Awaiting the conclusion of the approval of the platform for the renewal of the bankers' contract (with which the unions have asked for a 518 euro increase, 10 euro meal vouchers, and the 35-hour week), the union congress season has begun. It was opened by the congress of Unisin in Riccione (the next one will be Uilca, from 25 to 28 May in Venice), where Luca Pinton was elected new general secretary. Venetian, 56, an Intesa SanPaolo employee since 1988, like most of the general secretaries of the credit sector, Pinton was unanimously elected by the delegates attending the congress and succeeds Emilio Contrasto. Shortly after his election, he explained that 'this is a turning point congress, but not a break. It goes in partial continuity with what has been achieved in recent years. Difficult challenges await us, starting with the renewal of the National Contract and the impact on the category of the Digital Revolution through the introduction of the use of AI in our sector, as a new working tool. We will face them all together with commitment, hard work, passion, and transparent communication, which will characterise the actions of this Secretariat'.

The new Secretary General thanked Emilio Contrasto, who has led Unisin for 13 years, since 2013, and decided not to run again: 'I thank him for what he has done and also because with great generosity he will continue to lend us a hand, guiding our Study Centre and representing us in Confsal,' Pinton said. Unisin was born from the aggregation of three other Autonomous Trade Unions - Falcri Silcea and Sinfub - with a history dating back to the 1950s. For more than a decade it has been a member of Confsal, an organisation with more than 2 million members. Unisin's congress was attended by all the general secretaries of the credit sector, from Lando Maria Sileoni for Fabi, to Susy Esposito for Fisac CGIL, Riccardo Colombani for First Cisl, and Fulvio Furlan for Uilca, and the Executives of the most important Credit Institutions in the country, as well as Confsal General Secretary Angelo Margiotta and Abi Casl President Ilaria Dalla Riva.

Pinton will be supported by a national secretariat whose members will be Piero Carcano, Valerio Fabi, Massimiliano Iannacone, Mauro Mascetti, Massimiliano Lanzini, Luca Ravaglia, Ezio Sala Tenna, Alessandro Casagrande, Stefano Giuliano, Pietro Pisani Pietro, Domenico Antonio Valentino.
