The Italian public debt made a small reversal in July: this was reported by Banca d'Italia according to which there was a decrease of 1.1 billion euro compared to the previous month. The value is therefore "equal to 2,946.6 billion". Via Nazionale explains that "the general government cash surplus (1.9 billion) more than offset the effect of issue and redemption discounts and premiums, the revaluation of inflation-indexed securities, and the change in exchange rates (which together increased the debt by 0.8 billion)".

First 7 months revenues up by EUR 11.9 billion

In the first seven months of 2024, tax revenues, as calculated by the Bank of Italy, amounted to EUR 309.3bn, up by 4% (EUR 11.9bn) compared to the same period last year. The indicator takes into account the cash flow of revenue and mainly considers state taxes. It differs in this respect from the tax revenues calculated by the MEF, which takes into account the accrual basis.
