Last May, the debt of the general government increased by 13.3 billion compared to the previous month, amounting to 2,918.9 billion, approaching the 3,000 billion mark. This is according to data from the 'Demand and Debt' Bulletin of Bankitalia . The increase is due to general government requirements (11.5 billion) and to the effect of issuance and redemption discounts and premiums, the revaluation of inflation-indexed securities and exchange rate changes (2.1 billion). In the opposite direction was the reduction in Treasury liquid assets (0.3 billion, to 31.9).
+2.9 billion revenue in May, +13.7 in 5 months
In May, tax revenues recorded in the state budget amounted to EUR 43.3 billion, an increase of 7.1% (EUR 2.9 billion) compared to the corresponding month of 2023. In the first five months of 2024, tax revenues amounted to 206.8 billion, an increase of 7.1% (13.7 billion) compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
