Bayraktar: ‘We will strengthen Piaggio Aerospace’
The chairman of the Ligurian company, which was acquired by Baykar in 2025, celebrated the 40th anniversary of the maiden flight of the P.180 aircraft
2026 “is the year in which we will strengthen the company’s foundations. We are rebuilding the supply chain, strengthening customer support and ensuring that the business can operate on a solid and stable footing. The priority is to create sustainable growth whilst ensuring that customers and aircraft already in service receive the support they deserve.” Haluk Bayraktar, Chairman of Piaggio Aerospace, made these remarks during the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the maiden flight of the P.180 executive aircraft. “An opportunity,” he emphasised, “to look ahead: to reflect on what lies ahead and on the next 40 years that we will build together.”
The director of Baykar Technologies, the Turkish company that took over Piaggio Aero in 2025, added: “When we arrived, we realised that, despite the difficult years, the wealth of expertise was still there. The certifications were genuine: design, production, maintenance, training and authorisations that take decades to obtain. The expertise was still there in the people too.”
Bayraktar went on to say that “the story of the P.180 Avanti is not over; on the contrary, we believe it is only just beginning”, signalling the Turkish group’s commitment to supporting the development of the Ligurian company at its sites in Villanova d’Albenga and Genoa.
