"Beats of Pompeii': in addition to concerts, an evening tour of the excavations

Third season of summer concerts in the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. New this year is the possibility of access, on the dates of the musical events, also to part of the site in the evening. Not only shows: the programme includes archaeological tours, tastings and visits to ancient vineyards. Also open every evening is the permanent exhibition dedicated to the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD and the casts of the victims, recently inaugurated in the Palestra Grande of the excavations.

"If we organise concerts and theatre in an archaeological site," said director Gabriel Zuchtriegel at the presentation press conference in Palazzo Santa Lucia, "it is because we believe in culture in a broad sense. The skills may be different, from archaeology to music, but culture is one and knows no barriers'.

From 24 June to 27 July the Amphitheatre of Pompeii will host a bill of 16 national and international artists for a total of 20 concerts, many of which are already sold out. The "BOP - Beats of Pompeii" festival, now in its third year, will feature concerts by Of Monster and Men, BEAT, Riccardo Cocciante, Pat Metheny, Opeth, Coez, Vinicio Capossela, Tropico (double date), Riccardo Muti, Claudio Baglioni (double date), Marcus Miller, Charlie Puth, Marillion (double date), Savatage. There will also be a double date with Nino D'Angelo on 27 and 28 June and the concert "È mio padre - Morricone Dirige Morricone" on 25 June, dedicated to the legacy of Ennio Morricone, with the Modena Theatre Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by maestro Andrea Morricone and the participation of Marco Morricone, in support of the City of Hope Foundation to raise funds for paediatric research.
