The programme agreement between the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Metropolitan City of Bologna, the Municipality of Valsamoggia and Beghelli and Techbau envisages the construction of a large logistics hub. Precisely in the area now occupied in Crespellano, in the province of Bologna, by the Beghelli production plant.
Plant changed hands. From the Bologna-based group (products and systems for electronics, technical lighting and security) to the Milan-based general contractor in the field of civil engineering projects, logistics and industrial centres, shopping centres, residential complexes.
A EUR 21.9 million transaction that will allow the Monteveglio-based group, which has been in financial crisis for several years, to consolidate its accounts and support a commercial development programme, in Italy and abroad, as envisaged in its industrial plan. Beghelli, which closed 2023 with a turnover in excess of Euro 155 million, has in fact accumulated a loss of over Euro 9 million and net debt of Euro 52.3 million.
The production area had been used as a call centre for some time and was one of the group's eleven plants. The others, including the Monteveglio site, where the logistics centre and R&S laboratories are also located, are located between Italy (province of Modena and Bologna) and the rest of the world, including the USA, Mexico, China, Hungary, Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. The operation was finalised in recent days. And it allows Techbau, with the institutional green light, to lay the foundations of a logistics centre, at the same time as an urban regeneration project.
Having grown in ten years from EUR 30 million to almost EUR 300 million (turnover 2023), the general contractor from Lombardy, with over 160 employees, has an international outlook. In fact, it has built logistics hubs in Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Russia, Indonesia, as well as retail parks (Bulgaria, Germany), business centres, and hotels.
