Bergamo, 13-year-old student seriously stabs French teacher Chiara Mocchi

At 7.50 a.m. on 25 March 2026, a 13-year-old eighth-grade student at the Leonardo da Vinci secondary school in Trescore Balneario (Bergamo) wounded a 57-year-old French teacher, Chiara Mocchi, in the neck and abdomen with a knife. She was transported by helicopter in serious condition to the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital in the capital.
After being operated on, the operation lasted about two hours, the woman is in intensive care. Her life would not be in danger.
The institute in Via Damiano Chiesa houses primary and secondary schools.
The attack took place in a corridor on the first floor, in front of a classroom. The 13-year-old boy had a smartphone hanging from his neck, according to initial information, which was used to film the attack on the teacher.
The student was stopped by another teacher and two school staff and then handed over to the police.
