The assignment of the works for the construction of the new Sports Hall in Bergamo, in the area of Via Pizzo della Presolana, where the Palacreberg used to be, has been formalised. The company awarded the contract is GVG Spa of Rome, which came first in the list at the end of a very popular tender procedure, which saw the submission of over 50 offers. The intervention, entrusted to Chorus Life Spa as contracting station and in implementation of the provisions of the Integrative Deed of 2024 signed by the parties, represents a strategic step in the process of urban regeneration of the city and for the enhancement of the sports and social fabric of the area..
Designed by the A3Architetti studio of Bergamo, the new structure will have an initial capacity of 2,500 seats, extendable up to 3,000, designed to host competitions of women's volleyball up to the A1 Series and men's basketball up to the B Series. The tender-based executive project was developed by SCE Project of Milan, which was also entrusted with the role of Works Management. For legal assistance in the procedure, Chorus Life Spa availed itself of the firm Bertacco Recla & Partners.
Construction is scheduled to start in the second half of July 2025, and will last 15 months.
The total value of the project for the European tender, which also included the redevelopment of Via Castel Regina to improve accessibility to the area, was EUR 12 million (excluding VAT) and was awarded to GVG S.p.A. with a 36.17 per cent discount.
The new Palazzetto dello Sport of Bergamo is financed 56% by the contracting station Chorus Life Spa - which is also responsible for all design, work supervision, testing, and other technical expenses - while the remaining part is financed by the Municipality of Bergamo following the Integrative Act of the Programme Agreement.
