Bernini at the Quirinale with a delegation of research institutes for Italian Research Day in the World
Minister presents three 2026 MUR-funded calls for tenders and Researcher Enhancement Plan: 'Research at the heart of public policy "The President of the Republic has been a tutelary deity"
Scientific research is "at the heart of public policy", said the Minister for Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, who was received today at the Quirinale by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella on the occasion of Italian Research Day in the world. With Bernini, a delegation of the presidents of public research institutions was also received. She thanked President Mattarella 'for the constant attention and sensitivity he has always dedicated to research'
"An extraordinary opportunity"
Bernini noted that 'the Day of Italian Research in the World is an extraordinary opportunity to recognise its strategic value for the country's future and to enhance the contribution of our researchers, both in Italia and abroad, in strengthening Italia's ability to innovate, compete and assert itself in the global scenario'. The meeting was also an opportunity to take stock of the measures promoted by the ministry in recent months for the funding and organisation of research and for the enhancement of researchers. These are 'real interventions,' said the minister, 'that, step by step, are outlining a clear direction. A direction in which research returns to the centre of public policies and is affirmed as a strategic lever for the country's development and future'.
"Mattarella nume tutelare"
"The President of the Republic has been a tutelary deity, in these four years his presence has made a difference because research needs certainty and continuity". His 'sensitivity and attention to research has enabled us to guarantee these results'.
