A joint venture for berries. It is called 'I Frutti di Gil' and is the result of a partnership between Orsero - a holding company of the Italian and international group of the same name, leader in Mediterranean Europe for the import and distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables - which holds 51% and Cerchia Holding (Matteo and Luca Molari), specialised in varietal selection and nursery cultivation of berries.
The agreement aims to develop an important supply chain project dedicated to berries and allows the strengths of both companies to be combined. On the one hand, Molari puts its twenty years of experience in varietal improvement and nursery propagation at the service of the joint project. The Orsero group, on the other hand, deploys its commercial and distribution strengths, thanks to the widespread network of its facilities.
The project involves the selection of cultivation areas and producers of excellence, able to guarantee high quality and fresh products, 52 weeks a year. The harvested berries are then processed in dedicated areas within the Orsero Group's warehouses, which are widely distributed throughout Italy.
The Verona warehouse will be the central hub: here a new warehouse with a total area of 7,000 square metres on two floors is under construction, adjacent to the existing one, of which 1,200 square metres will be tailor-made and completely dedicated to small fruits, thanks also to the provision of state-of-the-art sorting and sizing machinery.
"We are delighted with this agreement, which will allow us to focus on a product range with great growth potential," commented Raffaella Orsero, VP and CEO, and Matteo Colombini, Co-Coeo and Cfo of the Orsero Group. In a historical period in which the search for convenient and practical solutions to consume healthy and fresh products is constant, berries, which are easy and quick to consume, fully meet this need. We could not have chosen a better ally to develop this path than the Molari family'.
