Biffi: Artificial Intelligence to boost productivity
The debate within Pavia Innovation Week
The potential of artificial intelligence as a productivity multiplier. And then the strategic role of Life Sciences as a leading sector for regional and national competitiveness, the necessary link between the academic ecosystem, entrepreneurship and local development policies. These are the key issues that Assolombarda will focus on in an ad hoc session organised as part of Pavia Innovation Week, an event dedicated to science, innovation and culture that will animate the Pavia area from 8 to 11 April.
"The genetics of innovation. Ideas that become future' is the claim of the debate, with the idea, rather than celebrating innovation in an abstract sense, of tracing the deep mechanisms that allow an idea to take root in an area, to find resources, talent, institutions and companies capable of transforming it into value.
A key ingredient today is Artificial Intelligence, to which Assolombarda has dedicated one of its key projects, i.e. ForgIA, for the sharing of 'protected' data in a platform capable of creating added value
"Pavia,' explained Assolombarda President Alvise Biffi, 'can count on one of the oldest universities in Europe, internationally recognised research centres, such as the Chips.it foundation, and a capable entrepreneurial fabric: Innovation Week aims to connect these elements in a coherent narrative to ground the transformative potential of technology. This is why we are bringing ForgIA, the Assolombarda project that represents one of the most concrete examples of how we understand innovation today, into the event. An open but protected ecosystem, designed to allow companies to collaborate, while remaining competitors in the market, with the aim of 'forging' an artificial intelligence modelled on the real needs of industry. It is a concrete project, which brings immediate benefits: a 10% increase in productivity in the micro, small and medium-sized industrial enterprises in our area would generate EUR 2.4 billion in added value, equal to +0.8 GDP points in the quadrilateral of Milan, Monza Brianza, Lodi and Pavia. This is the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, which can be applied to several strategic sectors for the territory, such as life sciences'.
Another line of development is that of Life Sciences, where Lombardy can boast companies and research facilities of excellence, some of which are concentrated in Pavia.
