Utility bills decree, 2 percentage point IRAP increase for energy and gas producers
Green light in the Cdm for a measure to cut energy costs for businesses and households. On Ets, the government goes ahead
In the energy decree approved by the Council of Ministers, an increase in the IRAP tax for companies in the energy sector has popped up in support of a cut in the bill for SMEs. According to Il Sole 24 Ore, this would be the latest novelty in the measure just dismissed by Palazzo Chigi: the decree contains, in fact, an increase in the rate for companies that produce energy of about EUR 900 million over two years.
The mechanism, thus devised, traces the lever already used by the executive for the banking sector: that is, an increase of about two percentage points to raise the ordinary tax rate from the current 3.90 per cent to 5.90 per cent. The aim is to reduce system charges (the Asos component) for non-energy-intensive SMEs. In this way, therefore, the government is also throwing a lifeline to small and medium-sized enterprises in the wake of what has been done in the past with other bill decrees. With a benefit, on balance, that should be around EUR 20 per megawatt hour.

On the Ets chapter, on the other hand, the government's choice is to go ahead with the easing of this post and then continue the more than likely negotiation with Europe, since the mechanism is a European one. Confirmed, then, on the front of families, the extraordinary contributions that will reach up to 115 euro for fragile families already holders of social bonus, while for families without bonus but with Isee under 25 thousand euro the contribution will be borne by the sellers on a voluntary basis.
