Green light for the bill decree. Meloni: 'Aid of over 5 billion'. Orsini: 'Important signal'
There was also the OK for the bad weather decree. The Council of Ministers approved the decree law and the civil protection resolutions needed to deal with the damage caused by Cyclone Harry and the Niscemi landslide
From bills to bad weather, passing also through autonomy. It lasted just under two hours, from 4.20 p.m. to 5.55 p.m., the Council of Ministers at which both the energy decree and the emergency decree for Calabria, Sardinia, Sicily and the landslide in Niscemi were approved.
The Bills Decree
With regard to the cut in utility bills, the aid for families in the most disadvantaged economic conditions will be 115 euro, to be added - said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a video published after the Council meeting - to "the 200 euro we had already planned, bringing the total to 315 euro". Measures that would reach 2.7 million vulnerable families. But the decree envisages several other novelties, in particular on Irap.
The president of Confindustria, Emanuele Orsini, welcomed 'the bill decree'. It is positive," he said in a note, "that concrete measures are being taken to support families and businesses, but above all that a broader and more structural vision of industrial policy for our country is beginning to be outlined. The cost of energy has long been one of the main critical factors for the production system in Italia. We have pointed this out on several occasions: energy has a decisive impact on the competitiveness of our companies, particularly in the energy-hungry and manufacturing sectors'.
At the same time,' Orsini added, 'we must monitor that these measures do not affect the development of Italy's energy sector. We believe it is essential to continue working together with the government, including at the European level, so that the issue of ETS-related costs, which have a significant impact on the final price of energy, is tackled with determination. It is necessary to open a constructive debate with the European Union to ensure rules that accompany the transition without penalising the competitiveness of our industrial fabric. The decree goes in the direction of supporting businesses and represents an important step. As Confindustria, we confirm our full willingness to collaborate to build a solid, sustainable energy strategy capable of strengthening Italia's growth and competitiveness'.
Heavy Weather Decree
There was also the OK for the bad weather decree. The Council of Ministers approved the decree-law and the civil protection resolutions needed to deal with the damage caused by Cyclone Harry and the Niscemi landslide. The executive would aim to exceed one billion euro, to be added to the 100 million already allocated.
