Utility bills, the government studies a new EUR 55 bonus for families: here's how it works
A discount on system charges for SMEs is also on the way
An extraordinary annual subsidy worth 55 euro for electricity supplies to resident domestic customers. This is what the government is planning to support households in difficulty with bill payments.
These are persons with an Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator (Isee) of up to EUR 15,000 or large families with at least four dependent children and an Isee of less than EUR 20,000.
While for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, a new cut in the systems charges on their bills could come, as has happened in the past.
The cost of the operation
To reduce the cost of electricity bills paid by households, the government is putting one billion euros on the table. Resources that, according to the technical report, should come from the budget of the Cassa per i servizi energetici ambientali. A sort of piggy bank that manages the resources that are recovered from the sector over the course of the year.
The family discount
The aim is to reduce the cost of electricity supply for next year to current energy bonus recipients and those who benefited in 2023 from similar extraordinary subsidies. In essence, the subsidy should involve a beneficiary group of about 4.5 million households at a cost of around EUR 250 million for 2026.
