Green light from Arera (the Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment) for vulnerable customers (over 75, social bonus recipients, beneficiaries of the disability law, users of non-interconnected minor islands and emergency housing facilities) to remain within the graduated protection service until its termination (March 2027). The Authority chaired by Stefano Besseghini has in fact approved the resolution that follows up on the last Bollette decree and establishes, for all those who are already in the gradual protections and who have acquired the status of vulnerable by the date of entry into force of the measure (end of February), the possibility of continuing to be served within the temporary mechanism.
The provisions of the Bills Decree
.The same Arera, in line with the decree, establishes that the possibility remains for these customers to move to the free market or to re-enter the greater protection by choosing the operator responsible for the territorial area. Greater protection which, the same decree also states, will have to be replaced by a vulnerability service with the holding of supply auctions (as has already happened for gradual protection) and with the Single Buyer in the role of centralised supplier of wholesale electricity.
Application by 30 June
.All vulnerable customers who, on the other hand, are currently served by an operator in the free market or the greater protection market can apply, by 30 June next, to switch to the graduated protection service, while those already in the Stg remain within the mechanism until the expiry date, as just mentioned, without having to make any further application for the transfer.
Arera's instruments
.In order to identify the operator of the graduated protection, Arera has made a number of tools available to users, starting with a search engine, available on the Authority's website (www.arera.it), which allows them to locate the necessary reference by entering the municipality of origin. Customers can also contact the consumer desk (800 166 654) to ask for support in finding the operator.
