"For the capital gains from bitcoin we foresee an increase in the withholding tax from 26% to 42%": this was said by the Deputy Minister for the Economy, Maurizio Leo, during the press conference on the manoeuvre 2025 in presenting the measures approved in the Council of Ministers on Tuesday evening concerning the recovery of resources to support interventions in favour of families, young people and businesses.
How was the taxation of capital gains above 2,000 euro
As of the tax year 2023, already with the first tax return, i.e. the 2024 income model, numerous changes were introduced on the taxation of cryptocurrencies: all capital gains above EUR 2,000 were taxed at a rate of 26 per cent. Now this taxation increases to 42 per cent.
Coming news on web tax
News is also coming on the web tax. "On web tax revenues, we are working on eliminating the ceiling of 750,000 euro and the part produced in Italy relative to 5 million, so we are eliminating the thresholds," announced Economy Deputy Minister Maurizio Leo on the Manovra.
Digital Payments Against Evasion
From next year, the paper receipt will no longer suffice to get a taxi fare refund. one of the examples given by Deputy Minister Leo to explain the new squeeze on the use of cash. "For the fight against tax evasion, the traceability of expenses is envisaged, e.g. expenses for the use of taxis or for representation for the purposes of deductibility for companies, it is necessary to use the credit card and there is also the connection of Pos with the cash register," said Leo at the press conference on the Manovra.
