Bmw updates Series 1, the entry-level model in its range with a styling restyling and a mechanical upgrade that goes as far as mild-hybrid engines
The 1 Series is the most compact of the Bmw models, but it does not renounce the sporty DNA that is a hallmark of the Munich-based manufacturer's range. With the restyling, the model also responds to its long-standing rivals, the Audi A3 Sportback and Volkswagen Golf, which were revamped earlier this year, aiming to confirm the profile of the 1 Series as the sportiest premium car in an environment that is among the most competitive of all.
Bmw 1 Series, new look and slightly larger size
The cut of the front and rear light clusters and the double kidney of the grille, which has a wider and flatter shape, contributed to the 42 mm increase in length for a total of 4.36 metres, while the height increased by 25 mm for 1.46 metres. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2.67 metres. In addition, further aerodynamic details are provided by the optionally available M Sport and M Sport Design packages.
Bmw 1 Series, dashboard evolved with arrival of Curved Display
The most innovative element of the interior is the introduction of the Curved Display in all recent BMWs combined with 10.25-inch and 10.7-inch screens for instrumentation and infotainment respectively.
Abandoning the gearstick lever and replacing it with a switch, and reducing the physical controls to a minimum, the centre console has acquired more space intended to improve the car's on-board livability.
Bmw 1 Series, more hitech thanks to Bmw Operating System 9
With the introduction of Operating System 9, new connected services are now also offered on the 1 Series, as well as revamped graphics and the QuickSelect interface. The optional Live Cockpit Professional package adds the availability of the head-up display with augmented reality, which contributes to increased safety in a car aimed at one of the Munich-based manufacturer's youngest audiences.
