Bmw C 400 X and C 400 Gt, how the German scooters are changing

Bmw updates its premium mid-range scooters, both the sporty C 400 X and the touring C 400 Gt. From an aesthetic point of view, the former is available in a 'Rugged' version with a sportier and more robust design, featuring a matt Kalamata metallic bodywork, red wheels, gold detailing on the front brake callipers, a two-tone red-black seat and a tinted windscreen. The Gt version, on the other hand, is now available in the 'Exclusive' variant featuring Diamondwhite metallic paintwork, gold-coloured wheels, a premium saddle with embroidery, a manually adjustable windscreen and a 43.5-litre top case (13.5 litres more than before, with a payload of 10 kg instead of 5 kg). Speaking of load capacity: the space under the saddle gains three more litres and in the Gt there is also more space in the front pockets.

Both versions are now fitted with Abs Pro as standard, which also offers greater safety when braking in bends. The Dynamic brake control (Dbc) function, which is linked to Abs Pro, offers a very sensitive response and high braking stability with the best possible deceleration even when cornering. As soon as the sensor box provides a certain deceleration value during braking, a simultaneous request for acceleration by the driver is identified as implausible and the throttle valve is prevented from opening; as a result, the vehicle remains stable and the braking distance is reduced. Dynamic traction control (Dtc) and engine torque control (Msr), which prevents excessive rear wheel spin in the event of abrupt deceleration, also become standard.

The 34 hp single-cylinder engine with 35 Nm of maximum torque, connected to an automatic CVT transmission, remains unchanged, apart from adaptation to the Euro5+ emissions standard.

The C400s are equipped with a 6.5-inch Tft display, compatible with the BMW Motorrad Connected App, which allows control of functions via Bluetooth. The C400 GT can be equipped with an optional larger 10.25-inch display.

The Bmw C 400 X has a list price of around 8,000 euros, while the C 400 Gt costs 9,000 euros. Both models will be available in dealerships from the beginning of 2025.
