Ambidextrism and technological flexibility. As well as a reorganisation of the network focused on the concentration of sales outlets. Massimiliano Di Silvestre, president and managing director of Bmw Italia, emphasises the key factors that have allowed Bmw Italia to grow in 2025, even in a general market context that is certainly not favourable to cars. "Ambidextrism and technological flexibility," he said at the presentation of the annual figures at the headquarters in San Donato Milanese, "have proved to be winning strategic choices in Italy as well. We decided to leave customers the freedom to decide on the motorisation while continuing to offer the full range of options. And the choice has also paid off in 2025'. In Italy, the group closed 2025 with 89,486 registrations, a group growth of 7.4%.
In detail, Bmw registered 73,230 cars, an increase of 3.1% over 2024. Bmw's share of the premium market rose 0.6% to 29.5% (up from 28.9% a year ago). The brand confirmed its leadership in the premium market. Good performance also for electric and electrified cars, which reached 5,046 units and 10,305 units, up 25.3% and 72.6% compared to 2024.
Mini sold 16,256 cars (2,371 electrics) in Italy, up 32.1 per cent year-on-year, bringing the brand back to standard volumes after a 2024 characterised by a change in business model and a complete renewal of the range that had penalised results.
As far as motorbikes are concerned, BMW Motorrad set a new record in the Italian market with 16,744 motorbikes sold (+1.2% compared to 2024), confirming its leadership in the over 750cc and over 500cc segments.
"Although we have achieved the targets on CO2 emissions," said Di Silvestre, "we welcome the more flexible path adopted by the EU, which confirms our strategic choice. The Italian growth results, which are in line with the global ones, are the result of more than 35 billion in investments in recent years and of the policies to strengthen the brand and concentrate the sales network. We look forward to a 2026 of development of the BMW ecosystem with the launch of very important models from which we expect significant results". 2026 will see the commercial launch on 7 March of the iX3, the first car on the new Neue Klasse platform, the restyling of the 3 Series, updates to the X1 and X2 and a revamped X5.
