Bmw iX3, China version debuts with Huawei software and Deepseek artificial intelligence
The public debut is scheduled for the Beijing Motor Show at the end of April, but the brand has already shared the first camouflaged photos and especially many of the new details of the China-specific iX3 Lwb (long wheelbase) such as the software and even the new handles aligned to Chinese regulations
Bmw is preparing to present the Chinese version of the first model in the new Neuve Klasse family of electric cars. It is the iX3 LWB credited with a 108 mm longer wheelbase to meet the demands of Chinese buyers, plus an added technology package with Huawei's software at its heart to match local expectations and regulations. If externally the iX3 LWB mirrors the standard model on sale in Europe, there is no shortage of details that distinguish it heavily. The doors are elongated, but above allthe handles use a specific design.
Huawei's software and technology solutions made in China
After the wheelbase, perhaps the other most important detail that divides the car from those destined for Western markets is the software. In fact, Bmw's operating system integrates both the Huawei Harmony Os Next, i.e. the Chinese competitor to Android Automotive developed by Huawei in response to the US technology ban imposed by Trump's first term. But that's not all, the Bmw iX3 'china edition' is also cleansed of other American technologies: we find Alibala and Deepseek artificial intelligence plus navigation, with 3D maps, christened Amape as an alternative to Google, which has legal restrictions on use in China. Bmw will also offer a driver assistance system with scenarios exclusive to the Chinese territory to which sophisticated Adas will be added for all urban environments including motorways used for long-distance travel.
