An investment of approximately 385 million euro, in the three-year period 2024-2026, for a programme comprising 104 works. This is envisaged in the University of Bologna's Building Plan, presented by Rector Giovanni Molari, focusing on sustainability, rationalisation activities, new student halls of residence, and teaching and research facilities. The focus will also be on the redevelopment and energy efficiency of existing buildings.
Main interventions
.Among the main works is the completion of the plan to transfer the Stem (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) area departments to new sites, as well as those now located in the University Citadel. Then there is the completion of the Biomedical Tower at the Sant'Orsola Polyclinic and the spaces in the Navile complex, destined for the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology, up to the new headquarters of the Department of Psychology in Cesena. It is planned to complete 70% of the works by 2025.
"The building plan we are presenting today is a bit of a summary of the situation of all the work we have been doing in recent years. The amount exceeds 380 million euro obtained with various funds, national, NRP and regional. But also with many resources of our Athenaeum. There are investments in all the sites of our multi-campus,' emphasised Molari.
The accommodation
.In the plan there are also six student halls of residence for about 800 places. "Some of these almost ready, some in the works, and others where projects will start soon. All these student halls of residence are financed from the various rounds of Law 338". On the issue of student accommodation, Molari explained that "there is continuous interaction with all the municipalities, including those in the towns around Bologna and the multicampus. The housing problem is an objective one: we are working on it, trying to take advantage of all the opportunities there are, and now the call for 60,000 lodgings has also gone out, so we are working at 360 degrees to try to bring as many resources as possible to the issue".
