A new EUR 70 million investment for BolognaFiere, which officially announced the start of work on the new multifunctional pavilion designed by Mario Cucinella Architects.

"It will be an iconic work," assures the managing director of the trade fair group, Antonio Bruzzone, "designed to be able to adapt flexibly to host both trade fairs, sporting events and shows.

A 10,500-seat facility

.

With more than 12,000 square metres of floor space and a height of 25 metres, the new hall will be able to hold around 10,500 spectators. The modular structure will allow the group's main trade fairs (Eima, Cersaie and Cosmoprof) to fully develop their growth potential, but also to increase the international congress business and accelerate the diversification strategy undertaken a few years ago by BolognaFiere, hosting, as mentioned, sporting events (starting with the championship and Euroleague matches of Virtus Segafredo Zanetti and the 2026 Davis Cup finals), as well as concerts and shows.

Redevelopment of the neighbourhood

.

The project, Bruzzone explains, is also part of the broader redevelopment programme of the trade fair district launched in 2016, which has so far required investments of 116 million euro, to which this additional 70 million euro will now be added, and which aims to integrate and make the trade fair district more in dialogue with the city and the surrounding urban space.

The multifunctional pavilion will in fact be located in a strategic position between Piazza Aldo Moro (junction between the city centre and the new TEK district, i.e. Tech Entertainment and Knowledge) and the Viale della Fiera.

BolognaFiere towards 140 thousand square metres of floor space

Thanks to this new investment, the BolognaFiere Group (which closed 2024 with a turnover of EUR 274.1 million and an Ebitda of EUR 44 million) is preparing to reach its goal of 140,000 square metres of net exhibition space.
