Appliance subsidy scheme nears completion; final million to be allocated by September
Sellers will have until 4 September to claim the subsidies. After that, the discount will be discontinued.

The curtain is falling on the 2025 household appliance bonus. There is one final million still outstanding, yet to be allocated at the end of the scheme’s complex process. And there will be time until 4 September to do so. This is set out in a ministerial decree just published by the Ministry for Enterprise and Made in Italy.
The deadline
The measure that has just been published explains, in fact, that the deadline for end users to submit applications for the household appliances grant was 31 December 2025, at 23:59. Applications were opened on 18 November last year. During this period, it was possible to apply for the vouchers on which the subsidy was based, which had a budget of 48.1 million euros.
What is the household appliances bonus?
It should be noted that the aim of the scheme was to encourage the replacement of obsolete appliances with new, energy-efficient ones: 100 euros per household was available (or 200 euros, provided the ISEE was below 25,000 euros) for a 30 per cent discount on the purchase price. For this reason, alongside the purchase invoice for the new appliance, it was necessary to provide a declaration regarding the collection of the obsolete household appliance. In practice, it is the retailers who must take the necessary steps to secure the subsidy, once customers have presented their voucher to them.
Vouchers issued but not yet paid out
At this stage of the procedure, all the vouchers allocated have been made available to end users, as the Ministry explains, ‘in accordance with the chronological order in which the relevant applications were submitted’. Furthermore, all vouchers issued “have either expired or been used by end users”. In short, the only tasks remaining to be completed are “those relating to the processing of refunds due to sellers who have taken part in this initiative”.
Latest checks and bank transfers
Sellers must, in fact, upload the invoice and the declaration regarding the collection of the obsolete household appliance to the dedicated platform. In this way, Invitalia can carry out checks and pay out the grants by bank transfer; customers have, in fact, had their discount applied directly to their invoice.
