Bosch and Cariad are intensifying their collaboration within the Automated Driving Alliance: the two partners are jointly developing software for level 2 and level 3 assisted and autonomous driving, exploiting the full potential of artificial intelligence. To this end, the two companies are expanding their strategy by integrating the most advanced AI technologies. The aim is to create more powerful and intelligent driver assistance systems that behave naturally, just as a human driver would, improving the driving experience and making it even safer. The software developed covers all basic cognitive functions: perception, interpretation, decision-making and action.

Bosch and Cariad aim to make autonomous driving accessible to millions of drivers, from mass-market to premium vehicles. The goal is for the new driving functions to allow drivers to take their hands off the wheel in different situations. The first versions have already been implemented in test fleets and are now being trained and refined on a daily basis by processing large amounts of data. The aim is to make these solutions available in series production projects from mid-2026. The Volkswagen Group plans to integrate the autonomous driving functions developed by Bosch and Cariad into its new software-defined vehicle architecture. Covering everything from individual driving functions to the entire software system, Bosch will also make this scalable solution available to other manufacturers globally, with the aim of actively promoting autonomous driving on a large scale.
