Bper closed the first quarter of the year with a consolidated net profit attributable to the parent company of 518.5 million euro, up 17% on the same period of 2025, after completing the integration of Banca Popolare di Sondrio, consolidated in the financial statements since 1 July last year. And thus confirms a good income generation capacity after the completion of the integration of the former popolare valtellinese.
Consolidated ordinary profit, from which integration costs and the impact of the purchase price allocation are deducted, amounted to EUR 549 million. The bank announces that it will update its business plan on 6 August, subject to developments in the geopolitical and macroeconomic scenario.
Core revenues stood at EUR 1.77 billion, the cost/income ratio at 45.1% and the CET1 ratio at 14.9%.
The most striking fact is the resilience of profitability. Net interest income remains the main driver of the accounts, at over EUR 1.08 billion, while net commissions, at EUR 681 million, confirm the growing contribution of savings management, bancassurance and customer services.
CEO Papa: 'Stronger after integration with Sondrio'
"Thanks to the completion of the integration of Banca Popolare di Sondrio, we can now leverage an even more distinctive industrial model and greater strength and solidity provided by our new size and broader capital resources base," says Bper's CEO, Gianni Franco Papa, in his note on the quarterly results. "This set-up," he continued, "takes on further value in light of the complexity and uncertainty of the macroeconomic and geopolitical context in which we operate, which sees us committed to ensuring constant support for our customers - individuals, households and businesses - even in these delicate and complex times. Quarter after quarter, the results demonstrate the effectiveness of our model and encourage us to continue in this direction, even more determined and strong, together with our new colleagues.
