The Liberal Party – according to the press release – has emerged from these elections with a historic result: a majority comprising 121 federal deputies, 29 senators, 229 state and district deputies, and 6 governors
In an official statement, Flavio Bolsonaro’s party, the Partido Liberal, acknowledges the Lula’s victory in the Brazilian presidential election. “We recognise the presidential result announced by the Superior Electoral Court,” reads the statement signed by the PL’s president, Valdemar Costa Neto, “but we understand that the issues raised must be clarified through a balanced and democratic political debate. We will continue to monitor developments and seek answers with responsibility, transparency and respect for the institutions.”
‘Flavio Bolsonaro won the first round of the presidential elections by a margin of 2.2 million votes,’ reads the opening of the statement. ‘In the second round, however, the result was different, against a backdrop of intense electoral pressure, with economic and social repercussions.’ “The Liberal Party,” the statement continues, “has concluded these elections with a historic result: a majority comprising 121 federal deputies, 29 senators, 229 state and district deputies, and 6 governors. This is a demonstration of the party’s strength and of the trust placed by millions of Brazilians in the ideas we uphold.” “The PL will remain steadfast,” concludes Costa Neto, “acting independently and responsibly in the defence of democracy, freedom and the values we represent. Our commitment is to Brazil and to the millions of Brazilians who place their trust in our work.”
