Brembo doubles the experience of the Inspiration lab, opened almost four years ago in Silicon Valley, inaugurating a twin module in Shanghai. A new point of reference for a market that is increasingly strategic in the choices of the Bergamo-based group, accounting for 15% of its annual turnover, up 7.7% in the last year. The Asian Brembo Inspiration Lab - in the intentions of the Stezzano-based group - will focus on strengthening the company's skills in software development, artificial intelligence applications and data science, marking a further step in Brembo's transformation into a solution provider.

"The Brembo Inspiration Lab in Shanghai is the centre of excellence in China dedicated to our global digital strategy," said Daniele Schillaci, CEO of Brembo. The automotive industry is evolving and we are integrating our most advanced braking systems with software solutions based on artificial intelligence to set a new standard in the driving experience, focusing on safety and comfort. The Brembo Inspiration Lab will help realise our vision of an accident-free future, where drivers, passengers and pedestrians can enjoy complete peace of mind'.

The new Brembo Inspiration Lab will become part of Brembo's global innovation network, joining the Brembo Inspiration Lab in Silicon Valley (opened in July 2021) and the Group's ten R&D centres around the world. As Brembo's centre of excellence in China, the Brembo Inspiration Lab in Shanghai - Brembo's top management assures - will foster collaborations with top universities, innovative start-ups and strategic industrial partners to develop cutting-edge solutions capable of accelerating the competitiveness of the Group's customers globally.

For its first Brembo Inspiration Lab in Asia, the company chose to invest in Shanghai, one of the main economic and commercial hubs of the People's Republic of China. The Brembo Inspiration Lab is located inside the modern skyscraper Wheelock Square, in the Jing'an district, a district that combines business and culture, making it one of the influential areas of Shanghai.

With the opening of the Brembo Inspiration Lab in Shanghai, the Group expands its global presence and further consolidates its growth in China. Brembo launched its first production site in Nanjing in 2001 and today has five production plants, a sales office and an R&D centre - recently expanded - in the cities of Nanjing, Shanghai, Langfang, Jiaxing, Qingdao and Jinan.

Brembo closed 2024 with a net profit of 262.6 million, -13.9% year-on-year, and stable sales at 3.84 billion (-0.2%). Ebitda decreased slightly to EUR 661.1m (-0.7%), while Ebit fell by 5% to EUR 393.3m. Ebitda as a percentage of sales was slightly diluted compared to the 2023 result, from 17.3% to 17.2%. In the guidance, Brembo forecasts a 5% drop in turnover for 2025, a drop that, again according to the guidance, could be neutralised "in a framework of market stabilisation" and downstream of the consolidation of the newly acquired Ohlins.
