Brescia, fight against illegal work: 4 companies seized

Four companies seized and five denunciations. This is the balance of the operation conducted by the Financial Police of the Brescia Provincial Command, as part of a planned operation to combat undeclared work and the exploitation of labour.

The economic-financial police activities, carried out with the help of personnel from the Brescia ATS - workplace prevention and safety service (PSAL), made it possible to identify 71 foreign workers, of whom 35 were employed under exploitative conditions in the four factories that were then seized.

Specifically, as a result of the checks carried out, it was ascertained that the workers, three of whom were illegal in the country (clandestine immigrants), received a salary not in line with the national collective agreements and below the poverty threshold, defined according to the ISTAT 2023 parameters, and that they worked/lived in degrading and dilapidated housing conditions.

Therefore, in agreement with the local Public Prosecutor's Office, five people were referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Brescia for violation of Article 603-bis of the Criminal Code and the relevant factories were subjected to urgent preventive seizure.

Overall, the inspection activities led to the detection of the employment of 17 'undeclared' workers, 4 'irregular' workers and to the referral of 3 subjects for the violation of Article 10-bis of Legislative Decree 286/1998 (Illegal entry and stay in the territory of the State).
