"Donald Trump is running to be an American tyrant and he doesn't understand this country. The only candidate to vote for is Kamala Harris." That was the call to vote made by Bruce Springsteen at the Dem candidate's rally in Atlanta with Barack Obama and other entertainment stars. The Boss sang a few songs, including The Promised Land, warming up the audience.
Past president Barack Obama then renewed his call for male voters to reject Trump's misogyny. Speaking at the same rally, the former US president recounted how he grew up without a father but surrounded by women, using his personal experience to show how a community of female mentors taught him how to be a man. "I have noticed this, especially with some men who seem to think that Trump's behaviour is a sign of strength," Obama said. "I'm here to tell you that this is not real strength. It never was," he cautioned. He then reminded that Trump "when he's not complaining, when he's not sending crazy tweets, he's trying to sell you something," he said, citing the gold sneakers and bibles the tycoon promotes.
So Obama revived the revelations made by former chief of staff John Kelly that Trump wanted generals as loyal as Hitler's. "In politics, a good rule of thumb is not to say you want to do anything like Hitler," the former US president said, recalling that other people who worked with the former US president also denounced his authoritarianism, including former joint chief of staff Mark Milley. "These are serious people who worked with him and see him as a danger," he added referring to Kelly and Meadows.
