BTPs: spread closes higher at 81 points, 10-year yield jumps to 3.90%
French OaTs outperform BTps at 5- and 10-year maturities
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - The spread between BTp and Bund bonds closed higher following the resurgence of the crisis between the US and Iran. At the close of trading, the yield spread between the benchmark 10-year BTp and the German Bund of the same maturity stood at 81 basis points, up from 78 basis points at yesterday’s close. The yield on the benchmark 10-year BTp also rose, closing at 3.90%, up from 3.76% at the close the previous day. It is worth noting that yields on French government bonds have overtaken those on Italian bonds, with the 10-year OAT yielding 3.92% at the close and the 5-year OAT closing at 3.33%, compared with the 3.29% recorded by the BTp of the same maturity on the MTS platform.
