(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) The upward trend in the spread between BTPs and Bunds continues at the start of trading. Amid tensions in the Middle East and their knock-on effects on the energy market, the yield spread has risen further following yesterday’s trading session, when the yield curve had already been pushed upwards due to market tensions.
At the start of trading, the yield spread between the benchmark 10-year BTp and the German bond of the same maturity stood at 118 basis points, three points higher than yesterday’s figure. Following yesterday’s surge, the yield on the benchmark 10-year BTp rose to 4.69 per cent in early trading this morning, up from 4.63 per cent at yesterday’s close.
