BTp: oil market tensions ease; spread closes lower at 105 points
Ten-year yield falls to 4.52 per cent
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Spreads and yields closed sharply lower, taking advantage of the easing of tensions in the energy market to catch their breath following last week’s rally. At the close of trading, the yield spread between the benchmark 10-year BTp and the German bond of the same maturity stood at 105 basis points, down 10 basis points from the previous close of 115 basis points. The yield on the benchmark 10-year BTp also fell sharply, closing at 4.52 per cent, down from 4.64 per cent at the previous close. The yield on the German Bund closed slightly lower at 3.48 per cent (3.49 per cent at the previous close), whilst the French 10-year OAT ended lower at 4.74 per cent (4.86 per cent the previous day), posting the best performance among Eurozone government bonds. The spread between the OAT and the Bund also narrowed, closing at 127 basis points (137 the previous day)
