Bugatti relaunches on the luxury market with a model produced in 250 units with a name derived from haute horlogerie: Tourbillon
The Bugatti Tourbillon is not only the French company's answer to models that focus on performance, but also on the most exclusive luxury. But it is also a technical breakthrough that coincides with the new 8,300 cc naturally aspirated V16 engine designed by Cosworth combined with a plug-in hybrid system, the work of the experts at Rimac, the Croatian brand that from 2021 will manage Bugatti. Retiring the historic 8-litre W16 we start with three electric motors that, in addition to greater thrust, are able to guarantee electric road travel;
The hybrid turn for the luxury brand
.The Bugatti Tourbillon has a combustion engine that weighs only 252 kg and is capable of delivering up to 1,000 hp, plus a further 789 hp guaranteed by the three electric motors, one with 200 hp inserted in the gearbox connected to the rear wheels, while at the front there are the other two drive units with 300 hp each. The battery at the base of the system is 25 kWh and is lithium-ion in addition to being integrated in the central tunnel. The overall power of the system is 1,800 hp, combined with a torque of 900 Nm for an electric range of 60 km.
Bred hypercar performance
.Luxury hypercar performance could only result: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just two seconds, while 0 to 300 km/h takes just 10 seconds. Not to mention the impressive top speed of 445 km/h. The new Bugatti is also slightly shorter than the Chiron from which it is aesthetically derived: 467 cm in length, with a wheelbase of 274 cm, a height of 118 cm and a width of 205 cm. Dimensions that should guarantee better dynamic qualities than those of the Chiron;
Swiss watchmaker's set-up
.The interior is notable for details that hark back to haute horlogerie and the car's name Tourbillon. The instrument panel, in fact, was built on the basis of 600 parts with titanium gears and the use of exclusive rubies. All made in collaboration with a Swiss watchmaker. As analogue as all the instrumentation is, it is the Tourbillon's flagship. This is complemented by the driver's rather exclusive and bespoke leather interior.
