On the Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti (Spanish Steps), exactly where 10 years ago with the financing of its restoration began the renewed bond between Bulgari and the city where the maison was founded in 1884, the Christmas tree signed by the brand of the Lvmh group has been lit: its spiral shape recalls that of the snake, the animal symbol of Bulgari, but also the Tubogas turbines, another iconic work of the maison. Characterised by an ellipse made of plexiglass with a glass effect that extends along the brass spiral, it is wrapped in a golden metal mesh, with the eight-pointed star at the top, the symbol of the brand and present in Bulgari flagships around the world. A sustainable creation, as the lighting is made with LEDs, which guarantee energy savings of more than 75% compared to a traditional installation.

Bulgari has also donated the lighting of Via dei Condotti, where its boutique has been located since 1884, also made of LEDs, but for the first time it has also donated to the city 20 six-metre high Christmas trees placed in as many squares in peripheral areas of the capital, such as Piazza Sor Capanna, Piazzale di Porta Pia, Piazza della Visione, Piazza Santa Maria dell'Olivo and Piazzale della Posta di Ostia.

"It is a great honour for Bulgari to take part in this extraordinary festive initiative, which once again allows us to pay homage to Rome, our city, with which we have had a wonderful creative dialogue for 140 years," said Jean-Christophe Babin, Bulgari's CEO, inaugurating the lighting of the illuminations. This year, this honour takes on an even deeper meaning, since, in addition to the famous lights on Via dei Condotti, we have had the privilege of creating the tree that will illuminate the Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti, which was returned to its original splendour in 2016 thanks to the restoration we supported. We are also particularly happy to be able to bring the magic of the festive season to some of the city's peripheral squares, decorating them with trees and ornaments that will help to brighten up the atmosphere. With these initiatives, we reaffirm our commitment and gratitude to the eternal city through projects that reflect the values and generosity that have always characterised our maison".

The project has been realised in collaboration with the Municipality of Rome, with which Bulgari - through its Foundation - signed an agreement last September to offer new free courses, lasting three years, in the art of jewellery and hospitality to young people aged between 14 and 18 who have completed compulsory education. The close bond between Bulgari and the city will also pass through the opening, planned for 2026, of the Museum of the Mausoleum of Augustus, a project designed by Rem Koolhaas, to which the maison is contributing with a donation of 700 thousand euro.

With the switch-on of the Christmas lights, the new exhibition in the Domus space in the Bulgari boutique also opened, dedicated to Tubogas, its history and its variations, in combination with diamonds, coloured gems, ancient coins, and golds of different colours. On display for the first time will be a Tubogas Monete choker with four Greek silver coins, circa 1974, which recently became part of the Bulgari Heritage Collection and of which only two examples in the world are known to exist, one of the maison's first Tubogas jewel-watches dated 1948, together with a number of creations from private collections, rarely exhibited.
