From Musk 75 million in three months to bring votes to Trump

New York - Elon Musk has funded Donald Trump's election campaign with $75 million over the past three months. The Tesla, SpaceX and X boss paid 15 million in July, 30 million in August and another 30 million in September to America Pac, the super committee created by Musk himself to get voters to vote for the former president. These are the official figures released to the Federal Election Commission. To which are added the analyses of the independent non-profit organisation OpenSecrets, according to which American Pac has already spent more than 96 million dollars to support Trump, while with another 10 million it has financed Republican candidates for Congress.

America Pac has surpassed, in terms of resources and volunteers in the field, all the other political action committees supporting the Republican campaign: the activities, of which Musk is the sole funder, aim to mobilise the vote in favour of Trump in the seven key states for the 5 November elections. With much enthusiasm and few qualms, the organisers of America Pac have gone so far as to offer a $47 reward - 47 in reference to the 47th president Trump aspires to be - to anyone who brings a voter to sign a petition on the values proposed by the populist right.

Musk has now become the main engine of the right-wing campaign. To the cry of 'fight, fight, fight' he took the stage a few days ago in Pennsylvania alongside Trump, thrilling the crowd at the rally in Butler, where the tycoon had been wounded in an assassination attempt in July. And in Pennsylvania - perhaps the most important of the Swing States, with 19 Major Voters - Musk began a sort of promotional tour last night that will continue at least until Monday: 'If you want to participate, there is nothing to pay. You just have to sign the petition supporting free speech and gun rights, as well as vote in this election,' Musk said.

Big donors are helping Trump, who in fundraising lags far behind the campaign of Democrat Kamala Harris, who has reportedly raised nearly a billion dollars since entering the race. In the past three months, million-dollar donations have also been made to the Republicans by Miriam Adelson, the Israeli-American widow of casino king Sheldon Adelson, to the tune of 95 million; and by packaging industry tycoon Richard Uihlein, to the tune of 49 million.

But it is Musk, with his popularity and populism, with his bravado and visionary aura, who is increasingly instrumental in bringing votes to the Republicans. The richest man in the world (with a fortune estimated by Bloomberg at $262.8 billion), whose companies can count on billions of dollars in federal contracts, is extending his network of influence to the future elected officials in Congress, and has already obtained the promise of a prestigious seat in the administration should Trump prevail. He will have to reduce government waste at the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, or Doge, after the name of the cryptocurrency with which you can buy a Tesla.
