Byd Dolphin G DM-i, the 1,000 km compact plug-in is ready for Europe
The Chinese brand has unveiled the first images of its new plug-in hybrid-powered model destined for one of the most important sectors, the B segment, in the Old Continent markets. It will arrive in dealerships, including Italian ones, at the end of June at prices to be defined.

The new Dolphin G DM-I, the first compact plug-in hybrid from the Chinese brand Byd, is preparing to arrive on the market in Italia and also in Europe. With a length of 4.16 metres plus a wheelbase of 2.61 metres, which guarantees plenty of space on board, it will be positioned in the middle of the B-segment that is among the most popular in Europe. The Super Hybrid technology, in fact a plug-in hybrid, allows a range of up to 1,000 km. Added to this is ample space for the benefit of all passengers and a boot with a usable volume of between 425 and 1,225 litres.
Fuel consumption and overall range are record-breaking
Under the bonnet, the Super Hybrid technology, in practice a plug-in hybrid, allows up to 71 km with a charged battery and up to 23 km with a litre of petrol and a discharged battery thanks to the DM-i technology underpinning Byd's Super Hybrid system. The range with a full charge and a full tank of fuel exceeds 1,000 km. On longer journeys, in fact, the new Dolphing G DM-i ideally manages the use of both the electric motor and the heat engine. In short, an electrified car that reduces running costs without the need for recharging.
Technical data and list prices are still to be defined
Aesthetically, the new Byd changes style, particularly at the front, with a more modern design offering slim headlamp clusters with sporty bumpers and active air intakes at the bottom. The flanks are more appealing with no sharp cuts along the line of the handles and at the bottom of the doors, plus an all-new design for the rear pillar, where the same headlights are repeated as in the style of the electric Dolphin. The Dolphin G DM-i will be available from the end of June. Equipment, technical specifications and prices have yet to be announced.
