Byd chooses Milan to strengthen its presence in Europe. But it will not be a simple headquarters, but a real hub that will also house the European Style Centre, with over 50 open-space workstations and a virtual room dedicated to design. Located in the centre of the Milanese city, in Via Quadrio, between Piazza Gae Aulenti and Porta Garibaldi, it will open its doors by the end of September.
But that's not all: Byd's Italian presence will be increasingly widespread. In fact, the Chinese carmaker (which boasts a 1.2% market share) aims to open over 100 dealerships by 2025. These will be joined by as many as five showrooms of the premium Denza brand and a warehouse to guarantee delivery of spare parts within 48 hours. This ambitious strategy is accompanied by a corporate approach based on rapid decision-making. From the engineering modification completed in five months to the overhaul of the trunk of the Denza Z9 GT in just 24 hours to fit a golf club - everything is decided and realised in record time.
But Byd is not only automotive. The Chinese multinational is also active in electronics, renewable energy and transport, bringing to the market a wide and diverse range to meet all sustainable mobility needs. The basis of the Chinese company's offer is the Dolphin Surf electric city car, which stands out for its level 2 autonomous driving. This is joined by seven other models including 100% electric and plug-in vehicles ranging from city SUVs to SUVs. The latest addition to the range is the Seal 6 DM-i Touring, set to debut at the IAA Mobility in Munich.
A global strategy but at the same time tailored to local needs. Starting from the fact that customers on different continents have completely different needs, BYD has embarked on a process of regionalisation, which also includes the first European plant in Budapest, with research and development dedicated to the 'Old Continent'.
The future, meanwhile, is just around the corner: four new previews are expected in the next four months, while from 2026 the DM-i technology will also be available in Italy in strategic segments. A further step in BYD's race to establish itself as a major player in sustainable mobility.
