The star of the official press conference at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, which runs until 14 September, is the new Seal 6 Dm-i touring, the second model equipped with Super Hybrid technology with Dual Mode (Dm) and the first station wagon from Byd to make its public debut in Europe.

Byd had already anticipated the arrival of new Super Hybrid models and Vice President Stella Li has now confirmed that the next to receive a Dm-i version will be the Atto 2 SUV.

Dimensions and Style

Seal 6 Dm-i touring retains the 4840 mm in length and 1875 mm in width of the saloon, but is slightly taller, reaching 1505 mm. The wheelbase also remains the same, providing ample living space while the load capacity is 500 litres and reaches 1535 litres. Access to the boot is facilitated by the electric tailgate, which is standard on all versions and can also be operated remotely via remote control.

The design elements of the front end remain identical to those of the saloon, while the side profile combines the double beltline with a slightly sloping rear roof and a contrasting finish on the D-pillar that creates a 'floating' effect.

How the propulsion system works

The new Seal 6 Dm-i touring is equipped with Byd's Super Hybrid with Dm (Dual Mode) technology, which integrates several innovations including dual high-speed electric motors with integrated controller, the Blade Battery and a 1.5-litre Xiaoyun petrol engine.

The result is a propulsion system that functions most of the time as an EV, with up to 105 km of purely electric range, and intelligent control brings efficiency to a weighted combined consumption of 1.5 l/100 km and a combined range of up to 1,505 km for the saloon version and 1,350 km for the station version.

Dolphin Surf will be built in Europe;

During the press conference it was confirmed that the Dolphin Surf will be the first model to be produced in the new Byd factory in Hungary. The factory in Szeged remains on schedule to start production by the end of 2025, and the model will lead the brand's new generation built for Europe.

Vice-President Stella Li also confirmed that the expected Flash Charging will soon arrive in Europe and that installations will start even earlier than planned, as early as the first quarter of 2026.

Finally, the first vehicle to support the incredible 1000 kW (1 Megawatt) charging power will be the Denza Z9GT, the flagship grand tourer of Byd's premium brand.

During the press conference, Vice-President Stella Li showed the growth numbers Byd is experiencing in Europe, where it will be present in 32 countries with more than a thousand stores by the end of 2025.

But the Chinese giant is growing worldwide, reaching position number 91 in the Fortune Global 500, the ranking of the most powerful companies globally. This result was achieved thanks to a strategy involving BEVs and PHEVs. 2.86 million units were sold worldwide in the first eight months of the year, putting Byd in first place in the first half of the year with around 2 million units sold globally.
