Caffitaly invests in growth through agreement with Costa Coffe, retail and sustainability
The Bologna-based company has completed the recapitalisation and is starting again with a new three-year Business Plan. CEO Andrea Zocchi explains how the goal is to reach 200 million in turnover by 2028 and an EBITDA of over 30 million
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - A partnership with Costa Coffee, the world's second largest chain of coffee shops, new investments in sustainability and the desire to continue to grow in the retail sector, but not only. Caffitaly, the Bologna-based company that produces coffee machines and capsules owned by the private equity fund Cnp, is starting from these points to leave behind a financially difficult period and begin to build a new growth path that comes to life with the drafting of a new three-year Business Plan.
The New Business Plan
A resolution that has led to the drafting of a new three-year industrial plan based on three fundamental levers: "the first is a further development of the retail channel," commented Zocchi. "We sell more than 1.2 billion capsules a year, i.e. more than 4 million capsules a day, and we sell them through a network of shops in Italy that are divided into monobrand (about 100) and multibrand (about 400). We want to open new Caffitaly stores with a completely innovative, modern concept. The objective is to open a few dozen in the next three years, then clearly experience will tell us whether there will be 20, 40 or even 100," he explained.
Another topic is that which refers to the professional market: 'we have a solution that is a closed system, in the sense that only our capsules can be used in our machines, so there is a recognition that compatible capsules cannot be used, and this is a very important advantage for operators working in the so-called Ocs, Office Coffee Service, i.e. those who basically serve small offices, law firms, managers' offices, and meeting rooms,' continued the top manager.
Finally, the third lever of the Plan is represented by the collaboration with Costa Coffee, a subsidiary of the Coca-Cola Company, with which Caffitaly is producing three machines:""we also expect growth from this relationship. It is a project that is starting right now: Costa has launched the first of the three machines, but in the first quarter of 2026 it will have to launch the second and in June the third," Zocchi stressed. The Plan's objective is to arrive in 2028 "with numbers that can be interesting for any player, both financial and industrial," he continued.
