Cucinelli’s Callimacus AI joins forces with Salesforce
The company founded by Marc Benioff is entering the European artificial intelligence ecosystem, guided by the philosophical vision of the Umbrian entrepreneur
Key points
Solomei AI, the company that developed the Callimacus platform, has announced that it has signed an agreement for an investment from Salesforce, the world leader in AI-powered CRM solutions. This investment underlines Salesforce’s commitment to the European artificial intelligence ecosystem and will help support Callimacus’s initiatives aimed at expanding its engineering and research capabilities in the field of AI, accelerating product development and expanding its commercial operations in Europe and North America.
The name says it all
Callimacus, named after the great ancient philologist and poet, is an AI-powered platform designed to enable a new generation of page-less websites and applications. Rather than guiding visitors through a rigid, predefined navigation structure, Callimacus utilises an orchestra of AI agents to understand each visitor’s intent and compose a personalised experience in real time. Operating as a headless presentation layer, the platform integrates with traditional digital and e-commerce systems. The company is in the process of patenting the technology underpinning the generation of real-time experiences. The platform’s capabilities were first validated in January 2026, with the launch of a new e-commerce experience for the luxury brand Brunello Cucinelli.
Interest in the project
This launch six months ago was followed by significant spontaneous interest from companies operating across a wide range of sectors, confirming the need for traditional static websites to evolve in order to meet the demands of the emerging agent-based era. Salesforce will join the founders and initial shareholders of Solomei AI, including Foro delle Arti, the Cucinelli family’s holding company. “It is with a certain sense of pride and sincere satisfaction that I present a project which opens up extraordinary new possibilities for technology in the years to come,” explains Brunello Cucinelli, chairman of Solomei AI. Three years ago, Marc Benioff and I began working with mathematicians, philosophers, humanists and technologists, which led to the creation of Callimacus. Our idea was to create a product that is simple, intuitive and speaks the language of humans; a sort of new web, without pages, categories or predetermined paths, capable of guiding the intent of every user. I look forward with great confidence and hope to the path that Callimacus will be able to take thanks to Salesforce’s investment. Callimacus has the potential for a wide range of applications across many sectors worldwide, and it is an honour for me to invite our customers to discover, through Callimacus, the freedom to learn, choose and act in our digital lives.”
The similarities between Cucinelli and the founder of Salesforce
“Brunello has always believed that technology should elevate humanity, and this conviction lies at the heart of Callimacus,” adds Marc Benioff, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Salesforce. “ The team has developed an innovative platform that uses AI to rethink digital experiences, combining conversational capabilities, business context and real-time personalisation to create entirely new ways for businesses to engage with their customers. We are proud to be working with Brunello and the team at Solomei AI to pave the way for a new generation of AI-powered experiences.”
Next steps
The transaction falls within the scope of Italian legislation on ‘golden power’, which applies to technological assets deemed to be of national strategic importance. The completion of the transaction is subject to authorisation by the Prime Minister’s Office (Department for Administrative Coordination), as well as to the fulfilment of the additional conditions required for its completion.
